We are four grandmothers Heather (author), Jenny, Brenda B. and Brenda M. who all enjoy walking. Brenda M is not always able to walk for long spells, so each morning she would join us for the beginning of our daily walking, and was our back up driver.

Jenny and Heather did a charity walk in Nepal in 2005, and in 2008 were two of the ‘Famous Five Grannies’ who did the Coast to Coast walk in 13 days.

Both Brenda’s are avid walkers when time allows, with Brenda B joining Jenny and Heather on training walks. We didn’t put together a tough training plan, but did aim to get out every week to challenge our fitness levels, with walks of 12 miles plus. We struggle to find hills in this part of the country though. However, having done the C2C last year Jenny and Heather felt that this would not be as difficult. It wasn’t.
